NSN for FLEXI rollout for Telenor Pakistan

Telenor Pakistan, Norway’s Telenor subsidiary , have sourced NSN to implement an energy efficient GSM network that will enable the operator to reduce energy consumption of new sites by 50%. The companies say over 80% of a mobile operator’s energy use happens in the network.
Under the new plan, NSN will build a network using its Flexi Base Stations, a small, lightweight, modular, weatherproof, and energy efficient cellular base station. Last month, Telenor Pakistan awarded NSN a five-year upgrade and expansion of its network, which includes site acquisition, construction, network implementation, logistics and project management.
According to a statement from the companies, Telenor Pakistan is committed to significant reductions of its carbon emissions by 2011 and is leading the drive for greener telecom solutions in the Pakistani market. Parent Telenor has a public commitment to reduce the carbon intensity of its global operations by 40% by 2017.
